How to Print a Calendar

Most calendars on this site are a single-page PDF. Download it, open it, press print. A few settings decide whether the grid comes out full size with every row intact.

Letter or A4: match the file to your paper

The ready-made calendars are drawn on US Letter. Some pages, such as the blank calendar, December and the design collections, also offer an A4 version, and the Calendar Maker lets you pick either size. When the file and the paper match, set scaling to Actual size or 100%. When they do not, for example a Letter file on A4 paper, choose Fit or "Fit to printable area". Letter is about 6 mm wider than A4 and A4 is about 18 mm taller, so the printer shrinks the page a little and nothing gets clipped.

Margins and the bottom row

Home printers cannot put ink right up to the edge of the sheet. Every calendar keeps a white border around the grid for that reason. If the print preview still shows the last week cut off, switch scaling to Fit and leave the paper size alone.

Two years on one sheet

The yearly calendar puts all twelve months on one page. For a double-sided card, print this year, turn the sheet over, feed it back in and print next year on the back. With a duplex printer, choose "flip on long edge" for portrait pages. Heavier paper or light card keeps the grid on one side from showing through the other.

Binders, walls and the fridge door

The blank calendar page has a binder version with hole marks: three holes on US Letter in English, four holes on A4 in the other languages. Landscape sheets give each day a wider box, which suits a fridge door, a noticeboard or a shared family rota.

Saving ink

The Minimalist design has no illustration at all. In the Calendar Maker you can also switch off the illustration and set holidays to None for the plainest sheet there is. Plain designs print fine in black and white.

PDF or PNG from the Maker

For paper, use the PDF: it is vector, so text stays sharp at any size. The PNG is 1240 pixels wide, handy for a phone screen.
